THE
1. HERITAGE:
Born to James and Mary Matthews, the 8 siblings, James, Ethel, George, Julia, Alice, Dorothy, Herman and Thelma were raised in Natchez, Mississippi. In the 1940s and 1950s, 7 of the 8 Matthews siblings migrated to California, Illinois, and Michigan. Though separated by miles, the family ties remained strong. To ensure the ongoing connection, endurance and legacy of The Matthews Family, the 8 siblings established the ‘Matthews Family Reunion’ in 1979. Today, 44 years later our family ties remain strong, until we all reunite again, we will continue to hold high the light.
FAMILY
2. FAMILY PLEDGE:
We, the Matthew’s Family who have our roots in Sligo Ranch near Natchez, Mississippi do pledge allegiance of loyalty and love with the help of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to our relatives both near and far. We promise to support each other in our various experiences in life to invariably help each other in whatever need we may find ourselves in. To encourage each other to be a beacon of light and hope to those around us, for by so doing, we will help to make this world a better place in which to live. So help us God.
PRAYER
3. CONNECT ONLINE
Your safety is our first priority, so in light of the recent COVID19 pandemic, every effort will be made to offer virtual participation. The MFR Planning Committee will continue to use social media and technology to bridge connections to those who are unable to attend in person.
