The Hilton Waterfront Homewood Suites has reserved a block of rooms at a discount rate for the 2025 Matthews Family Reunion in Wichita, Kansas. You can book your room today using this link. Although the reunion events and family gatherings will be officially begin Friday the 18th and continue through Sunday July 20th, the discounted room rate spans from Thursday July 17th through Monday July 21st. There’s a lot to do and see in Wichita in case you decide to extend your visit beyond the reunion dates.

What are the steps in order to attend the 2025 reunion in Wichita, KS?

  • Reserve your hotel room(s)
  • Complete the registration form on the website or from the link in your email from the Reunion Planning Committee.
  • Submit payment of $80.00 per family member (over the age of 5) to cover your activities and meals included in the Reunion schedule of events.
  • Make your travel arrangements to Wichita.

When is the last day to reserve my hotel at the family block rate?

June 19th is the last day to reserve your hotel room(s) at the family reunion block rate.  The good news is the credit card required to make your reservation will not be charged at the time of booking. There is no deposit required, and cancellations are free before 11:59 PM local hotel time on July 17th, 2025.  Book your hotel today!

Are there any virtual options if I cannot attend this year?

We are planning to have a live stream for a few of the events over the weekend.   At least one event per day.

Welcome Family Cookout

  4:00pm - 9:00pm
Welcome to Wichita cookout in the park. Enjoy the Indoor and Outdoor space reserved at Sedgwick County Park with family games, crafts, activities and visiting with family in person and with virtual attendees. Receive a warm welcome from the Buffalo Soldiers of Kansas as they perform historical reenactments for your entertainment.

Botanica Gardens

  10:00am-3:00pm
Like wine, cheese, coffee, and chocolate, honey has emerged as an artisanal obsession. Experience how to taste, select, and pair a diverse selection of honey. Enjoy a tour of the Bee House and learn the significance of bee behaviors you can see inside the observation hive. Lunch will be provided.

Keeper of the Plains Ring of Fire

  8:30pm
The Keeper of the Plains stands at the confluence of the Big and Little Arkansas rivers with hands raised in supplication to the Great Spirit. Since the sculpture's installation in 1974 to commemorate the United States Bicentennial, it has become a symbol for the city of Wichita and a tribute to the Native American tribes who continue to gather at this sacred site.
